We often see this kind of new ideas, but history has taught us that personal experience is often the best guide. The wisdom of your friend Carmen, trusting direct recommendations, perfectly illustrates this proven principle.

First, classify, then judge, because the link between a general survey on vacation habits and a specific behavior of verifying identity documents is not direct proof.
Here, we have two types of distinct data: general vacation planning and a very specific administrative task.
A survey on vacation habits does not intrinsically measure administrative diligence; someone can be meticulous about reservations but procrastinate on passports.
For it to be relevant, the survey should have included targeted questions about travel document management, such as asking "How often do you check the validity of your passport before a trip?"
Without this specificity, it’s like assuming a good cook is also an accountant for their tax declarations.

If a simple Google Forms survey is the only basis, what protects us from hasty interpretation?
The collection of 78 responses is a start, but it’s not enough to establish a reliable condition on identity document verification behaviors.
The mandate of such a survey is often too broad to provide deep insights; targeted questions are needed to understand the why.
For example, relying on this for a group trip, without direct verification, could lead to delays or problems at the airport.
For serious planning, I would require a more robust study or individual verifications.

Do you really think that simply verifying a document is enough? The story of your traveler ends where the real tension begins: the validity of the document and the requirements of the destination country. An up-to-date passport does not guarantee entry if the expiration date is too close or if a specific visa is missing, turning verification into a real drama at the airport.

The ribbon whispers to me that a general survey on vacation habits is not enough to truly explain why 75% of people check their identity documents so early.
It smells like confirmation bias to use planning data to justify a very specific action.
In Spain, for example, the cita previa for a passport or NIE can take weeks or even months, forcing anticipation through administrative constraints, not just habit.
It's a practical constraint that dictates behavior, not an inherent preference.
We could confirm this with a targeted survey explicitly asking for the main reason for this early verification.

Here is a familiar story: we are told that travel guides are essential for choosing a destination.
But in the real world, for many, this is not the case at all.
My friend Carmen, for example, has poor eyesight and does not use the internet; a printed guide is useless for her travel choices.
She prefers recommendations from friends who have already been somewhere, because it is more reliable and personal than any book.
