Forget what we have already invested in this idea: performing Kolmogorov-Smirnov tests is not sufficient operational proof of statistical similarity.
These tests do not capture the subtleties of market mechanisms or specific conditions shaping distributions.
With fresh eyes, we would ask if this distributional similarity is still relevant if the local regulatory context is not considered.
For example, RBI policies on liquidity can distort comparability, making a purely statistical similarity misleading for decision-making.
We must ask: would we want to enter this market just based on a statistical concordance without evaluating local constraints or geopolitical risks?

Forget what we have already invested in this notion: the statistical similarity revealed by Kolmogorov-Smirnov tests does not constitute sufficient proof of operational similarity.
A KS test could show a very similar distribution of returns between a venture capital portfolio and a random benchmark, but this does not validate management decisions or the absence of specific risks.
For example, factors like multiples of empirical venture capital portfolios or limitations of benchmarks could mask underlying dynamics not captured by distributional conformity alone.
We must always look with fresh eyes if the interpretation of a statistical model overlooks local constraints or operational uncertainties.
A similar distribution does not mean identical market mechanisms; a RBI policy on liquidity, for example, can drastically alter economic reality despite a statistical match of returns.

Unrecoverable cost test: forgetting that executing Kolmogorov-Smirnov tests operationalizes a methodology does not make them tangible proof.
A test only measures distributional similarity, it does not validate underlying hypotheses or interpretation.
If one compares the returns of a Canadian provincial pension fund with those of a strict control regime, statistical similarities can deceive.
Economic mechanisms and institutional constraints differ, making direct interpretation of test results problematic, even if distributions are similar.

Where is the most profitable expression if we only see venture capital success prediction as a simple opposition between a gating network and basic methods? The latter are not an antithesis but a foundation to be integrated to reach the peak of performance. A gating network will only reach its full potential if it can outperform the existing baselines by using them as modular components. Pushing for the summit means asking how to combine these approaches for maximum asymmetry of returns, for example by using signals from GNN models that the gating network will learn to weight dynamically, rather than opposing them.

The most advanced expression requires us to go beyond simple aggregation. Incorporating diverse basic methods, as you propose, elevates our ability to model the prediction of success in venture capital by allowing us to validate the robustness of our gating approach against proven alternatives. The next step is to establish an experimental protocol to evaluate this relative performance on heterogeneous datasets.

Performing Kolmogorov-Smirnov tests realizes a methodology, but this does not make it an irrefutable proof of distributional similarity.
If we had not already invested our attention in this, would we question the premise that statistical similarity implies operational similarity?
A KS test could show similar distributions between, for example, Indian commodity returns and a reference market, even if export quotas or OPEC decisions dictate different volatilities.
This would obscure crucial market mechanisms and underlying risks for a trader, such as the RBI's liquidity policy.
Keep in mind that a metric alone is not enough; interpretation must always consider local constraints.

Who benefits from this supposed synergy between gating networks and basic methods in venture capital prediction?
The gain matrix suggests that the opposition is not just a matter of complementarity but rather an inherent tension in incentives and resource allocation.
If the gating network allocates weights and basic methods provide scores, the incentive for the basic method developer is to maximize their own score, not necessarily their contribution to the overall system.
There is a risk of suboptimal equilibrium if objectives diverge, such as a model optimized for prediction accuracy and a gating for robustness to missing data, leading to inefficient resource allocation.
For example, an investment fund in Berlin using this synergy could end up with underperforming capital allocations if the underlying models are not aligned with the dominant strategy of the gating network.

Let's forget what we have already invested in this idea; a Kolmogorov-Smirnov test is just a tool, not an irrefutable proof of the correctness of an interpretation.
The KS test compares distributions, but its relevance is entirely subordinate to the quality and representativeness of the input data.
If data are biased or artificially constrained, for example, by capital controls or import quotas in India, then the detected statistical similarity is misleading.
For example, a KS test on the Indian gold market could show a distribution similar to a reference, but it would not account for import taxes that artificially distort supply and demand.
