My instinct tells me that this connection between a survey and actual behavior is a bit far-fetched; a simple Google Forms survey does not capture the complexity of administrative deadlines and the last-minute pressure.
The fact that people answer questions about their holidays does not prove that they check their identity documents in advance; in Spain, the cita previa system pushes people to plan ahead out of necessity, not always by choice.
This feeling would only be quantified if survey responses were cross-checked with real data, such as tracking passport renewals before trips.
There needs to be tangible proof of the link, not just a declared intention in a questionnaire.

In this jurisdiction, the same fact is read differently. An online survey, no matter how well designed, cannot grasp all the local nuances of travel planning, especially when bureaucracy is involved.
Here in Spain, for example, cita previa for documents can completely change the game, turning an intention of early verification into a last-minute rush.
The lived reality of complex administrative procedures is not always reflected by a simple survey question, as people often state what they should do.
A family may say they verify their papers in advance, but an unexpected administrative error can force them into urgent verification, a situation the survey will not capture.

A survey, especially with such a small sample, does not prove a real behavioral change.
Here in Germany, the reality is that the delays to obtain a passport or visa do not depend on intentions but on administrative processes that can take weeks or even months.
Just because someone says they check their papers in advance doesn't mean they actually do or have a choice in the face of bureaucracy.

I hear the concern that stress related to choosing a destination might standardize document verification, and this is a valid consideration.
However, it seems to me that this statement draws a somewhat too strict boundary, as if the anxiety of choosing was the only driving force.
People often anticipate document verification out of pure administrative necessity, not just because of the importance of the annual trip.
For example, renewing a passport that is about to expire triggers early verification, even if the destination has not yet been chosen and without particular anxiety about the choice itself.

It is only a descriptive observation, not a solid explanation of why 75% act this way, while for 25% vacation planning is done at the last minute.
