The single point of failure lies in the commercial viability beyond academic publication. Just because researchers are working on it doesn't mean a technology is market-ready or outperforms traditional methods. A huge gap separates fundamental research and a robust solution for investment portfolios managing billions. For example, an algorithm on an experimental quantum computer does not automatically translate into a reliable application for BlackRock or Vanguard. It requires error tolerance and scalability that current quantum systems simply cannot yet provide.
