My probability that a proof could create equivalence has remained extremely low, say 5%. A proof demonstrates or reveals an inherent property; it does not generate it. Confusing this introduces a dangerous cognitive bias, as if the existence of a demonstration made an intrinsic relationship true, when it just validates a preexisting truth. For example, in the calculations of present value of pension fund commitments, the equivalence of sensitivities was true even before anyone proved it.
